Before you sign up for classes, it is important to ensure that the school that you want to attend is accredited. While there are many good, accredited online colleges out there, a few diploma mills still exist. You would not want to spend years of your life and thousands of dollars to get a degree, only to find out that your school was not accredited and your degree is worthless. Attending college online is different than attending college in a classroom. If you have technical problems, you will not be able to complete any coursework. When you are choosing a college, you may want to choose a college that offers customer service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The last thing you want is to have technical problems the night that a big paper is due.
Find Out How Long They've Been Online
Some colleges have only recently started their online programs. In those cases, there might still be some bugs that need to be ironed out. Some colleges still include video tapes and mail-in work as part of the coursework. Other colleges may require you to visit the campus to complete coursework. You want to make sure that the college that you attend is exactly what you are looking for before you sign up.

As you check out the college, you will want to find out what the tuition and fees are. Some colleges are more expensive than others are. When you are figuring out how much the college will cost you, don't forget to include the cost of lab and technology fees. Finally, before you sign up for the college program that sounds right for you, find out what other people are saying about your school. Some newspapers and magazines publish college rankings every year. Do a Google search to find out what students think about the school. You will probably be able to find blogs and bulletin boards where students that have attended the school discuss what they love about the school, and also what they hate. The opinions of other students might be the final factor that helps you find the online school that is perfect for you.
